Clear the clog. Then fix the reason it keeps coming back.
Anyone can clear a drain. The question that saves you money is why it clogged — grease, roots, a bellied line, or a fixture that was never vented right. We answer that question on every call.
Start with the symptom.
One slow fixture
A local clog — hair, soap scum, food waste. Quick to clear; worth asking why it recurs if this isn’t the first time.
Multiple fixtures slow or gurgling
That points at the branch or main line, not the fixture. Gurgling is air pulling through traps — a main-line warning worth taking seriously.
Sewage smell or backup at the lowest drain
Stop running water and call. The lowest fixture backs up first when the main line is blocked.
Clog returns every few months
Recurring clogs on a schedule usually mean roots or a damaged section of pipe — clearing treats the symptom; a camera inspection finds the cause.
Why it happens here
In older Santa Rosa and Petaluma neighborhoods, the usual suspects are tree roots finding joints in clay or cast-iron lines, and decades of grease narrowing the pipe. In newer subdivisions it’s more often wipes, kitchen habits, or a construction-debris surprise. Mature oaks and street trees — one of the best things about Sonoma County — are also the number-one enemy of old sewer laterals.
How we diagnose it
We clear the line with the right tool for the blockage — and when clogs recur, we recommend a camera inspection so you can see exactly what’s in the pipe: roots, scale, a belly, or a break. You see what we see. No scare tactics, no mystery findings.
Repair or replace — our honest rule
Most clogs need cleaning, not construction. We only talk about repair when the camera shows damage — and even then there’s a range of options, from spot repairs to lining to replacement. The footage drives the recommendation, not the other way around.

Questions homeowners actually ask
Should I use liquid drain cleaner first?
We’d rather you didn’t. Caustic cleaners rarely clear a real blockage, they damage older pipes with repeated use, and they make the line hazardous for whoever opens it next. A plunger is fair game; chemicals are not worth it.
Why does my drain keep clogging in the same spot?
A clog that returns on a schedule is telling you something’s wrong inside the pipe — roots at a joint, a sag holding water, or scale catching debris. A camera inspection answers it definitively, and it’s the step that stops the clear-it-again cycle.
What causes gurgling drains?
Air being pulled through the water in a trap — usually because a partial blockage or venting problem is creating suction in the line. One gurgling fixture is a nuisance; several at once usually means a main-line issue worth checking soon.
Do you camera-inspect drains?
Yes. For recurring clogs, pre-purchase checks on older homes, and any time the symptoms point at the main line, a camera inspection shows the actual condition of the pipe — and you watch the footage with us.
